Injectables

Injectables are comprised of two types of technologies: neurotoxins or neuromodulators and dermal fillers. Neurotoxins and neuromodulators are injected into muscles to block nerve impulses and reduce muscle activity that cause lines to form. Used to temporarily smooth the lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions, neurotoxins and neuromodulators are most often used around the eyes, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. Dermal fillers are used to temporarily fill in wrinkles and restore volume. The location and type of dermal filler used is dependent on individual skin and aging concerns. Injectable treatments are highly technique-dependent, so it’s important to select an experienced, properly trained medical or skincare professional.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels use a variety of acids to exfoliate the uppermost layers of skin. Ideal for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, enlarged pores, discolorations, and acne chemical peels can be highly customized to treat specific concerns. Chemical peels range from superficial to medium or deep. Superficial peels are performed in a series of at least six, while a medium or deep peel may be recommended as one-time treatment and must be performed by a properly trained medical professional.

Laser

Lasers use controlled beams of light at different wavelengths in the epidermis and dermis to target and improve an array of skin concerns. Laser treatments can improve signs of aging, lines and wrinkles, acne, discolorations, uneven skin tone and texture, and unwanted hair. Nonablative lasers penetrate skin without wounding the skin’s surface. They visibly reduce nominal sun damage, age spots and irregular pigmentation, acne, and redness such as rosacea. These treatments have little to no downtime and include temporary side effects such as redness and discomfort. Ablative lasers use more intensive targeted beams to remove and resurface the skin to diminish more pronounced wrinkles, acne scars, and other discolorations. In addition to targeting the epidermis and dermis, ablative lasers remove some or all of the skin’s surface. They dramatically improve overall skin tone and texture, accelerated signs of sun damage, and evens acne scars. These treatments usually require time for skin to heal resulting in a longer downtime. Laser hair removal is also extremely common, as it significantly reduces hair growth over a series of treatments, with results that last for the long-term with occasional maintenance treatments needed. Some lasers are not appropriate for darker skin tones, so it’s important to choose an experienced, properly trained medical or skincare professional.

Aesthetic Facials

Aesthetic facials are designed to improve the health and appearance of the skin. Unlike spa facials that focus on pampering and relaxing, these office-based treatments employ proven active ingredients and specific protocols to achieve targeted visible improvement for fine lines, wrinkles, discolorations, acne, and more. Aesthetic facials lead to radiant, healthy, youthful skin that can be maintained with a proper homecare regimen in between treatments.

Microdermabrasion

A form of manual exfoliation, microdermabrasion polishes skin with sterile aluminum oxide crystals before they are vacuumed away. The crystals help remove the uppermost layer of dead, dull skin cells and the suction helps increase blood circulation within the skin. Best performed as an ongoing series of treatments, microdermabrasion increases radiance while improving fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, acne, and surface texture.

Hydrafacial

HydraFacial uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate skin while infusing highly-effective serums tailored to your specific skin needs. This unique process helps improve the appearance of several skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, skin firmness, texture, and pore congestion. Suitable for all skin types, this rejuvenating treatment is gentle, non-invasive, and effective immediately.

Top questions

What are clinical procedures?

Clinical procedures are non-invasive treatments that are performed in a medical office by a trained dermatologist, plastic surgeon, nurse, other medical professional, or skincare professional. These procedures require special training, and should be performed in a controlled medical or professional setting. Clinical procedures can be used to garner more dramatic results than skincare alone can provide. They address concerns ranging from visible signs of aging, discolorations, acne, scarring, skin laxity, and more.

Why should I consider having clinical procedures?

Clinical procedures provide more dramatic results than those accomplished with skincare alone, and these treatments often provide visible improvement in significantly less time, or instantly in some cases. With proper maintenance, the results of some clinical procedures can last for months or even years. In addition to aesthetic results, clinical procedures can also enhance the overall health of the skin.

What clinical procedures are right for me?

To learn which clinical procedures are best for you, first identify the main skin concerns you are looking to improve. Then, schedule an appointment or consultation with a dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or other properly trained and qualified skincare professional. By discussing your goals, as well as factors such as your budget, lifestyle, and time available for recovery, together you’ll determine the clinical procedures that are best suited for you and your skin.

How do I incorporate my SkinCeuticals skincare regimen with my clinical procedures?

SkinCeuticals skincare products are compatible with clinical procedures. Your skincare professional will provide proper recommendation and usage instructions to prepare the skin for treatment and help promote healing after certain procedures. The proper SkinCeuticals homecare regimen can also help complement, maintain, and protect the visible results achieved by clinical procedures. A skincare professional will recommend the appropriate products according your needs and goals.
